Saturday saw us crawl out of bed at 5am to arrive in Pemberton in time to set up a stall in the wonderful old Pemberton Mill Hall https://www.facebook.com/ThePembertonMillHall – this hall is over 100 years old and is run and maintained by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers, who had set up the hall, were serving tea and coffee, devonshire teas, chips and a sausage sizzle, and we discovered later had to clear up after the market and set up for a dance being held in the hall that evening. Country hospitality and community spirit abound in Pemberton.
The market was brimming with lovely products – local and from a little further afield
http://halcyonsteppe.com.au import laces and trims and handmade paper from Indian villages where they are produced (they visited the villages and saw a way in which they could assist the villagers by finding a market for their products in Australia) I am happy to buy papers I use in making journals from them.
This beautiful cutting board kept catching my eye and of course came home with me – made by http://www.clivescreations.com
When the market finished we had time to wander up the street, admire the fencing around the park in the main street and get lost for a bit in the Pemberton General Store which is a treasure trove of wonderful hardware and serves the best takeaway coffee in Pemby!
